Mary E. Cahill-Zubry

Mary E. Cahill-Zubry (nee Burke), of Philadelphia, passed away at home, surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday June 10, 2025 at age 94.

Mary was the backbone of her family. Although she had a successful career, her true joy came from being a homemaker. When her children were young, she was a Brownie leader as well as a Cub Scout Leader. As her family grew, Mary played a big part in raising her grandchildren as well. Her caring ways were not limited to her family. Over the years she served as the President of the Ascension of Our Lord Senior Citizens group as well as To Live Again, a support group for widows and widowers. She liked to cook but Mary truly loved to sing. As a member of the Ascension of Our Lord Choir, she was part of the Eucharistic Congress Choir that sang for Pope John Paull II during his visit to Philadelphia. The highlight to her year was performing in the North Catholic Mothers and Fathers Association talent show.  

Wife of the late Francis J. Cahill and the late Serge Zubry. Cherished mother of Mary (Wayne) Petersen, Patrick (Patricia) Cahill and Francis (Sherry) Cahill. Beloved grandmother to her 14 grandchildren and loving G.G. to her 27 great-grandchildren. Dear sister to the late Joseph Burke, the late Annie Burke and the late Bernadette Johns.

Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing and funeral on Wednesday June 18, 2025 from 9:30AM until 11:15 AM at Christ the King Church, 3252 Chesterfield Rd. Phila. Funeral Mass 11:30 AM. Rite of Committal Cedar Hill Cemetery.
