George Merl Hecker, Jr., passed away at his home on Friday, April 11, 2025, at the age of 74.
"Radar" as he was affectionately known, was a lifelong resident of Philadelphia. He was extremely skilled with is hands and could proudly fix anything, a challenger which he greatly enjoyed. George spent his career working as a machinist and precision tool and die maker. In his free time, Radar enjoyed playing the guitar and listening to country and folk music. He loved fishing and hanging out down the river, or "wherever the fish were". George was also an avid train collector.
Beloved husband of 52 years to Kathy (nee Smith): loving father of Jennifer Bonawitz (Raymond Clark) and Nancy Hecker and doting Pop Pop of Vanessa Lee Bonawitz.
Radar was predeceased by his parents; Carrie (nee Miller) and George Merl Hecker, Sr.; his stepsister, Jenni Yannuzzi and his son-in-law, Dennis Bonawitz.
Relatives and friends are invited to greet his family on Friday, April 18, 2025, from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM at the Hollen Funeral Home, 3160 Grant Avenue, (west of Academy Road), Philadelphia, PA 19114. Words of Remembrance 12:00 PM. Interment private.
