Allan J. Mills, of Philadelphia, passed away on March 23, 2025. Beloved son of the late Minetta Bowden (nee Mills) and brother of Diane Grovola (John). Uncle to Daniele Grovola and cousin to Louise Witt (the late Robert), Paul Schiele (Miriam), Adele Krause (Richard), Janette Horner (David), Esther Ruban (Ivo) and Barbara McAdams. He is also survived by nine 2nd cousins and their children who adored him very much.
Allan was a kind, generous man who loved his family. Allan loved learning new skills, and he was always willing to help someone and fix something, even if he had to learn how.
He was a hard and dedicated worker from his first job at Pearson Sporting Goods, to his recent job at Nutrition Inc, serving Mast Charter School. One of his favorite things was spending time at the Innabah Camp and Retreat Center in Chester Springs. Spending time at this camp resort was like his home away from home and he loved attending their events multiple times each year. He started as a camper and before long became a camp counselor, which he loved.
Allan also spent time ushering at St. John’s Lutheran Church and volunteering for the Feast of Justice.
Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation on Saturday, May 31, 2025, from 11:00 AM until Noon with memorial service immediately following, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 3101Tyson Avenue (Tyson and Hawthorne Sts. in the Mayfair section) Philadelphia, Pa, 19149.
In lieu of flowers, Allan's family would prefer donations to the Innabah Camp and Retreat Center, 712 Pughtown Road, Spring City, Pa, 19475; OR Special Olympics, Attn: Web Gifts, 2600 Virginia Ave NW, 11th Floor, Washington, DC 20037 OR a charity of your choice in his honor.
